How To Cancel Insurance
Your rental agreement with Public Storage requires you to have insurance on your stored goods. One option is through the Orange Door Storage Insurance Program.
To cancel your insurance through the Orange Door Storage Insurance Program, follow these steps:
Cancel in person or online.
Log into your self-care account on the Public Storage website and navigate to “Edit Insurance” to cancel. You can also cancel at the facility where your goods are stored.
You must confirm that you have other insurance on your goods in storage and complete a new insurance addendum to your rental agreement (see a sample of this form here).
You can go to your storage facility office and complete a new insurance addendum.
Once you have confirmed there is other insurance covering your goods in storage, your insurance through the Orange Door Storage Insurance Program will cancel on the first of the following month.
The insurance premium is billed on the first of the month. Cancellations after the first of each month are subject to a minimum premium. Full refunds are provided for full policy months not used.
Your storage facility’s employees are not insurance agents, and therefore are not qualified or authorized to evaluate the adequacy of any insurance you may have. Here is a link to FAQs that you can ask your insurance agent.
